Beyond gyrokinetic theory - Excitation of high-frequency turbulence in 6D Vlasov simulations of magnetized plasmas with steep temperature and density gradients
Abstract
In this work, the stability of ion Bernstein waves (IBWs) is extensively studied in various conditions. Analytical investigations of the dispersion relation are combined with numerical simulations with a novel 6D kinetic Vlasov code. In addition, the energy fluxes induced by such waves have been investigated. The analysis shows the relevance of high-frequency waves in regimes of steep gradients, commonly found in the plasma edge of fusion devices.
